Today in class we continued the 100 greatest music videos;
89. Smashing Pumpkins - "Tonight Tonight" - 1996
88. Elton John - "I want Love" - 2001
This video is different as Elton John himself does not star in his own video, this is because after 30 years of producing music he decided he no longer wanted to star in them, so instead Robert Downey Junior started in this video. This was a good choice, because at the time he was struggling from a drug addiction and was in rehab, so in the video real emotion was shown, even though it took 16 takes. Also other celebrities such as Justin Timberlake starred in the video. Finally the music video is different because it was shot as a continual take and there was no editing involved.
87. Talking Heads - "Once in a Lifetime" - 1981
86. The Streets - "Fit but Don't you Know it" - 2004
85. Sid Vicious - "My Way" - 1979
84. The Boomtown Rats - "I don't like Mondays" - 1979
83. Shakespeares sister - "Stay" - 1992
82. 50 Cent - "In Da Club" - 2003
81. Ultravox - "Vienna" - 1981
80. Radiohead - "Just" - 1995
79. New Order - "Faith" - 1987
This music video is a very abstract as the people who created it had no interest in creating music videos, they believed the music should be about the song and not the video. This meant that they hired people who had no clue on creating a music video and wasted a lot of money. Because they used people who had no idea it meant the video had nothing to do with the song and the music video had no meaning.
78. Godley and Creme - "Cry" - 1985
77. MC Hammer - "Can't Touch This" - 1990
76. The Beatles - "Strawberry Fields" - 1967
75. Duran Duran - "Reo" - 1982
