Digipak our Fifth Draft

We are hoping that this is the finished draft for our outside cover as we have now added the writing to the spines. We feel that it works well with the central image, we didn't want to change the font or the font size, so it is the same as the tracklisting, we felt that if we changed it, it would make the cover look out of place and it wouldn't flow as well.

We feel that the spines link well with the digipak and are pleased with the result;

Digipak our Fourth Draft

Making our digipak more professional and realistic, we knew we would have to include a barcode and the tracklisting to the outside cover. Using a tutorial that a group member found online he was able to create a barcode which meant he wouldn't be using a real life one and had created it himself.
From a previous post i have wrote about desigining a font which we could use, this is the font we decided on;
Using this font we used the tracklisting rom her passerby EP and 2 songs which she released as singles. We decided to add a bonus track as well which was a live performance of her singing at the BT Tower.

From previous research we felt we needed to add a small section onto the digipak regarding copyright issues, we felt that this would make the whole thing look more professional. We also decided to include her website URL, and created a made up 'AM Recordings Ltd.'  We made this font smaller than the rest, and didn't use the stroke feature in Photoshop, this meant that it was still readable but wasn't eye catcing and wouldn't take the focus away from other aspects of the didipak.
The other text however ont he cover uses the stroke feature, this means the text is bordered making it stand out more.
In order to use thestroke feature, a text layer needed to be created, after this we had to select the fx button at the bottom of the layers window. We then had to select the bottom option of stroke, which opened a new window.
Below is an example of writing with and without the stoke tool;

It is clear that the stroke tool enables the text to stand out from the background, it makes it more bold and eye catching. Without the stroke tool being used it means that the text is lost to the background. By using the stroke tool on our digipak it means that the writing will be more clear.

Below is the image of our digipak with the tracklisting on;

All that we have left to do on our digipak is to complete the spines.

Digipak - Text Track List

When desigining the digipak we want the text to be personal and different from other texts, we also want it to be to a high standard that will match the rest of our digipak.
We done some research into what text we would be using on the digipak, below is an image of all the texts we will chose from;

We then asked a group of people which they felt was their favourite text and most of them preferred the 7th text. This is the text which we will be using on our back panel

Our Digipak - Third Draft

Our outside cover on our third draft is very similar to our second draft, we decided, we liked the way the pictures were laid out on the frame and we decided to add the artists name and the name of the song, we thought it would sit well on the bottom of the polaroid pictures and began to experiment with different texts. To do this we used the Wacom Bamboo Tablet this meant that the text could be written directly onto the picture and it made the writing unique to our digipak.
Below is an image of this;

The inside cover of our digipak was changed as the central panel seemed to plain, this is why we decided to do some research to make our digipak more personal to allie  moss, after doing some research a member found a interview she had been in and paraphrased what she said, he wrote it on a piece of paper, cut it out and took a photo of it, below is the image which he took;

Using the Lasso Tool in Photoshop we could select the area we wanted to use, rescale the image. After doing this we could change the contrast and brightness of the image and place it where we wanted it.

The image on the middle cover has changed our inside cover a lot, we like the way it is laid out and that it gives our digipak that personal feel to it. We decided that if we have enough time we will create a booklet and place it over the central panel and when it is removed it will reveal the quote. The booklet may include the lyrics of the song.
