The BT Infinity Advert

The song we are using for our music video was originally used in the BT Infinity Advert on TV to help advertise a product, we thought it benefitial to include this advert to show how they use the song.

The song is used positively in this advert, the lyrics 'when your world trembles and quakes' show how something is changing, but in this video it is showing that the persons world is changing for the better. This is because the advert is trying to sell something, our video is using the song to produce an emotional music video and we are interpretting the lyrics in a different view.

OK Go - 'All is not Lost'

This music video, along with others such as here it goes again are very different from most music videos. The band try to make their musi video's as memorable as possible. I recently saw this music video on a music channel on TV. The video is very confusing if not watched whilst paying attention. I think this reflects on the name of the song 'All is not lost'. If you pay attention you wont become lost, if you don't you will.
Here is the music video;

Analysis of Lyrics

Doo Doo Doo
Ooh
Ooh
Ooh

Ooh

Doo doo doo
Ooh
Ooh
Ooh
Ooh

Doo doo
Ooh
Ooh

These lyrics are very peaceful and calming, the  lyrics are very repetitive and patient. This suggests that there is a lot of emotion behind these lyrics.

When your world, trembles and quakes
And your footing suddenly, shifts and shakes

This suggests an actual disaster has occurred such as an earthquake, meaning the person has suffered something. However the lyrics could be metaphorical, suggesting a past traumatic event causing the person to feel unstable with themselves. However the lyrics have not been shown to be either negative or positive yet.

Take my hand
We'll hide in the corner
Hide in the corner
Take my hand
We'll hide 'til it's over
'Til it's all over

The artist says 'Take my hand' this suggests she is talking to someone and that she wants someone near her to keep her company.
They then say 'We'll hide in the corner' this shows that the artist is maybe scared of something or someone and is literally hiding in the corner. However the word 'corner' suggests that she wants to be surrounded and hidden from the public, somewhere which she can be unnoticed.

La la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la la la

This suggests that the artist is remembering the happy times that she has had, and shows the positivity of the song.

We have choices to make
We have promises that we can't break
There is nothing left to lose
So hold on to me
I'll hold on to you

The word 'choices' shows that the artist is taking control of her life, and that she is making decisions on her own. The word 'promises' suggests that she has commitments to someone prior to the events which are now happening. Furthermore we also learn that she has 'nothing left to lose' and that she has lost everything.  The 'hold on to me, i'll hold on to you' suggests that she doesn't want to lose something and she will always remember and treasure someone or something.

The overall song shows the way the artist is feeling after a certain event. Its showing both positivity and negativity to past events which have severely affected the artists life, and left her world turned upside down.

Before we had chose our song for our music video we spoke about this song in our group, we decided we wanted to do a song like it as it was slow and was very emotional. Research : Inspiration Your Song - Ellie Goulding

This song shows a lot of emotion within it, it is a slow song, which is like the song we have chosen in our music video, we wanted to do a song like this as it would be easy to lip sync to it. Also the emotion shown in it would raise some controversy. We looked at this video as it gave us some ideas for our own, the way Ellie Goulding is singing in a specific place and then showing memories of her life, this is what we want our msic video to be like, a replay of the girls life through the music video and the song.
